Eric lost track of time as the three of them cuddled close. Realizing that Holden was now questioning his sanity sure as fuck wasn't helping the endless hurricane of thoughts wreaking havoc in his mind. If Holden wasn't a werewolf then…

The knock on the door startled all three of them, but Eric was the first to get off the sofa.

"That'll be the food I ordered," Kelby said, trying to move.

Eric nodded at Holden when he refused to let Kelby go. "I've got it," Eric said, guilt swamping him when he finally noticed the dark circles under Kelby's eyes. His lover had been alone for nearly a year, worrying and hoping for Eric to return, and instead of getting back the man he'd loved, Eric, the delusional madman, had been sent home in his place. How Kelby had coped dealing all alone with Eric's ranting and out-of-character behavior over the past three months was nearly unfathomable.

The man deserved so much better than what he was getting.

And now, Eric had pulled Holden into their lives—a man possibly even more delusional than Eric himself.

Fuck.

Eric opened the door, handed over a fistful of cash, and then turned toward the small table in the corner of the room. He unpacked the food as Holden and Kelby moved toward him. They were halfway through the meal before Eric found the nerve to make his suggestion.

"Before I disappeared," he said with an apologetic smile in Kelby's direction, "I owned a cabin near a lake?" He didn't really mean for it to be a question, but until this very moment he'd at least assumed that everything he remembered of before his abduction had at least been true. Now he wasn't even certain of that.

"Yeah, it was your grandparents' summer home," Kelby said with a reassuring smile. "We spent a few weeks there a couple of years ago."

Eric nodded, relieved to have that confirmed. It also brought with it another memory—the way he'd taken his lover for granted. They'd had a bliss-filled vacation a few years ago, but it had been a rare occurrence. Eric had been too focused on his research career to truly appreciate the man who loved him.

He tried to shake off the regrets at the same time that he silently promised not to repeat his mistakes.

"Maybe we should go there for a while." He glanced at Holden. "Holden and I can work on not being crazy." Kelby looked like he wanted to deny that they were crazy—and no, it wasn't the politically correct term, but it seemed pretty accurate—so Eric continued to talk over his lover's soft protest. "Time away from the rest of the world will give us all a chance to recover."

"I'd like that," Kelby said in a shy tone, the one he'd often used in the beginning of their relationship. It was both good and bad to see the young man he'd been back then. It had taken several years to convince Kelby that he was worthy of being loved and to not be intimidated by Eric's family money, or Kelby's own unfortunate upbringing.
